(Sanford, FL) -- A Florida police officer who responded to the Trayvon Martin shooting says suspect George Zimmerman cooperated with authorities at the scene. Officer Ricardo Ayala says police had no trouble taking Zimmerman into custody that night. Ayala also said it's standard procedure for officers to hold a suspect at gunpoint whenever shots are fired. The officer added he didn't notice any blood on Zimmerman's face, but says he wasn't looking closely.
Zimmerman is facing second degree murder in the shooting death of the unarmed teen. He claims self-defense.
