(Kabul) -- Seven people are dead following a cargo plane crash near the Afghan capital city of Kabul. The U.S.-run plane went down shortly after takeoff today from the Bagram air base. The Taliban claimed responsibility for the crash, but NATO officials say there are no reports of insurgent activity in the area. There's no word yet on the nationalities of the seven victims.
On Saturday, four U.S. service members were killed when their surveillance aircraft went down in southern Afghanistan. Officials cited bad weather as the cause of that crash.
