Groundbreaking for Roanoke St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway

WYYD, WSET and M.W. Dunbar Construction will kick start the building of the 2019 St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway House in Roanoke on Wednesday, October 3, 2018, in a groundbreaking ceremony at 5:30 p.m. at Ashley Plantation in Daleville.

Organized by St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, attendees will learn how they can reserve a ticket for a chance to win the St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway house, with an estimated value of $425,000, and other prizes by reserving a $100 raffle ticket.  Only a limited number of tickets will be available and all proceeds from the fundraiser will benefit St. Jude and its mission to treat and defeat childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases.

This year's program is made possible by WYYD, WSET ABC-13, and M.W. Dunbar Construction, as well as national sponsors Brizo, Shaw Floors, Trane and Bosch.

The St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway is one of the largest single-event fundraisers for St. Jude nationwide and has raised more than $420 million.  All funds raised through the program will help ensure that families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food --- because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.

WYYD, an iHeartMedia radio station, has been a St. Jude Partner for the Country Cares for St. Jude Kids program for 18 years.  Country Cares is one of the most successful radio fundraising events in the country.  Since its inception in 1989, nearly 200 radio stations across the country have participated and raised more than $700 million for the children of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.  Co-founded by country artist Randy Owen of the band Alabama, supporters include Keith Urban, Brad Paisley, Darius Rucker, Lady Antebellum, Jake Owen, The Band Perry, Tim McGraw, Rascal Flatts, just to name a few.
