About the author: Pam Windsor is a Nashville-based music and entertainment journalist who you may remember from her reporting days at WSET, WYYD and WROV:

"I enjoyed the opportunity to do this piece because I first met and interviewed Phil in Nashville for a couple of stories I did for WSET-TV back in 1999. He was gaining success as a songwriter and hadn't released his first album yet. It was really interesting to talk to him on the other side of things all these years later."
