The issue of “urination equality” has been resolved successfully in Amsterdam. A nine-year battle, which saw “thousands take to the streets of the Netherlands,” has resulted in Amsterdam announcing that “more public toilets” would be opening in the city in October. Women like Geerte Piening had become furious that the city had “a lot of urinals for men,” but there was nothing around for the ladies to use. As a result, Piening…and other women…had to resort to things like peeing in an alleyway while her friends stood guard and provided cover. That resulted in a fine of close to $150 in one instance. Finally, making noise paid off, and “urination equality” has been achieved.
