UPDATE: The suspect in the Illinois shooting this morning has died.
The suspect reportedly killed five people in an apartment in Manchester, Illinois, a small town about an hour from Springfield. A child was also injured.
Reuters reported that State Police did not discuss any motive nor did they say if the victims were related. However, the Chicago Tribune reported that a grandmother, a young couple, and two children were killed.
The suspect fled and led police on a chase; gunfire was exchanged. The suspect was taken to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead, according to police. The suspect and victim's names have not yet been released.

A police spokesman said the suspect is in custody and was apprehended following a high speed chase with police; shots were fired. The suspect may have been injured in the exchange.
It happened in Manchester, Illinois, a small town about an hour from Springfield. According to reports, three schools in the area were closed as a precaution.
Fox2Now.com reports that Ronald Drake, mayor of the district, said he got the call around 4:45 a.m., indicating that there had been a shooting with multiple fatalities.
"It's a tragedy," he said. "I've lived here for 43 years and my wife's lived her for all of her life and there's never been a homicide."
