Jason Aldean reached one of his goals last week when he took home the ACM's Male Vocalist of the Year award.
Jason Aldean says that winning an major award was one of his goals...
"I always set my personal bar pretty high, so it's definitely one of those things I wanted to accomplish before my career was over. And hoped that at the end of my career to have one of these sitting on my shelf."
Jason crossed another goal off his bucket list this past weekend. Saturday he played Sanford Stadium -- home of his beloved University of Georgia Bulldogs. Here's more on that show...
Jason Aldean took over the University of Georgia's Sanford Stadium for a history-making, sold-out show Saturday. The concert was the first at the venue, attracting approximately 66,000 fans to the stadium, which UGA followers lovingly call the "land between the hedges." Georgia natives Luke Bryan, Thomas Rhett, surprise guest Ludacris and Florida son Jake Owen also performed. ESPN were also on the grounds for the gig, as was HLN correspondent-turned-country-newcomer Robin Meade. Film crews shot the show for an upcoming concert DVD.
- Thomas kicked off the concert with a 20-minute set that included "Beer With Jesus" and "Something To Do With My Hands."
- Jake followed with a 35-minute show that included "Anywhere With You," "The One That Got Away" and "Barefoot Blue Jean Night." Pointing out that he was the only non-Georgian on the bill, Jake found a common ground with UGA fans as a Florida State fan. Halfway through the set, he joked with the crowd, "I have to say, I hate the Florida Gators as much as y'all do."
- Saturday's show was one of Luke's first shows as the ACM's Entertainer of the Year. Like Jason, he had a ton of family out for the show including his mom who mingled backstage the day of the gig. Luke's set included "Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye," "Do I" and his new single "Crash My Party." He mashed up "All My Friends Say" with Metallica's "Enter Sandman" and "Country Girl (Shake It For Me) with Rihanna's "What's My Name."
- Jason kicked off his set with an incendiary version "Crazy Town," complete with pyrotechnics, inspiring thunderous applause from the crowd. The show also included his new single "1994," "She's Country," "The Only Way I Know" with Luke and "Dirt Road Anthem" with Ludacris. He closed with "Hicktown" and a ton of pyro.
