Billy Currington has turned himself into police following an indictment on Wednesday for "terroristic threats" and abuse of an elder. Bail is set for around $27,000.
Billy Currington has been indicted by a grand jury in Georgia for "terroristic threats" and elder abuse, according to the Savannah Morning News.
Wednesday's indictment follows an incident on April 15 between Billy and a man named Charles Harvey Ferrelle.
WSAV-TV in Savannah said Ferrelle is a charter boat captain who provides tours in the area, including Tybee Island, where Currington has a home. Here's the station's report:
Quoting a Savannah-Chatham Metro Police document, the TV station reported that a verbal confrontation occurred between Currington and Ferrelle at dock owned by the singer. At some point, Currington is reported to have boarded his boat and followed Farrell to another nearby dock, where police became involved.
Billy can't discuss the case, but did take to Twiiter: "Hey guys, I wanted to thank everyone for the huge amount of support that I have received already. Unfortunately, I can't comment on this situation as this is an ongoing legal matter. It means a lot to me to have your support during this time."
