The Peaks of Otter Lodge in Bedford is preparing to reopen on July 15. This week, the new operators are interviewing for staff positions, performing maintenance, and finalizing a few changes.
Among them, the restaurant's menu which will feature locally grown food. The lodge's guest rooms are also being updated and treated to a fresh coat of paint and new carpet. In the future, televisions and Internet service may be available in the guest rooms.
Delaware North Companies took over the lodge's operations in April and has a 10-year contract with the National Park Service to oversee the lodge. The previous operators, Peaks of Otter of Virginia, announced last year that they would not be renewing their contract with the park service.
